Several HR leaders have made moves this fall, especially in and around the tech and financial services industries. So without further ado, let’s see where they’re shaking things up.

Apple. CPO Carol Surface is reportedly leaving Apple after less than two years in the role, according to Bloomberg. Surface was the first person to hold the position, and Deirdre O’Brien, who previously led HR operations, will assume the role in her absence. Apple’s HR team is going through other changes; it recently replaced its head of DE&I, and its head of talent management is also leaving as the company works to manage its more than 160,000 employees.

CAA. One of the biggest players in Hollywood and sports talent management recently named Matthew Schuyler as its new CPO, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He’ll be responsible for directing employee management and strategy for the company’s 3,700+ global workers. Schuyler joined CAA after three years as Hilton’s chief brand officer, and previously spent seven years as CHRO and head of corporate real estate at Capital One.

Citadel. Sjoerd Gehring will be the new CPO at hedge fund Citadel starting next month, according to Bloomberg. He’s joining the company after more than six years at Apple, where he led recruiting and talent management. He previously oversaw recruitment for more than three years at Johnson & Johnson and spent nearly a decade climbing the ranks at Accenture.

FanDuel. Last month, the online gaming company announced that Caralyn Cooley is its new CPO, reporting directly to CEO Amy Howe, according to a press release. Cooley will be responsible for people strategy as the organization grows. She’s joining the company after five years as CPO at Bowery Farming and previously led HR at tech firm Nordeus and Jet.com.HSBC. The banking firm named Aileen Taylor as its new CHRO and governance officer in August. With more than 20 years of experience, she took over from Elaine Arden, who held the role for seven years and built out the company’s talent identification and development program.

Johnson & Johnson. Kristen Mulholland took over as the healthcare company’s new EVP and CHRO on October 1, replacing Peter Fasolo, who is retiring at the end of 2024 after 16 years on the job. Fasolo will spend the remainder of the year onboarding Mulholland, who joined the company in 2005 and worked her way up, spearheading Johnson & Johnson’s Military Veteran Leadership Development Program along the way.

McAfee. Justin Hastings joined the online protection company as SVP and CPO in September, reporting directly to CEO Craig Boundy. He oversees workforce planning, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and benefits. He joined McAfee after 11 years at Experian and brings nearly 30 years of experience to the role.

S&P. Dimitra Manis will step down as CPO after six years on the job, and Girish Ganesan will take over. The change is part of a wider C-suite reshuffle, including the appointment of a new CFO and chief client officer and the expansion of the legal and government affairs officer role. Ganeson joined S&P as SVP of people in 2021 and led talent and DE&I at TD Bank.
